I Wish You a Merry QAL Final Block Release #12!

Block #12 “Christmas Lights” is brought to you by the talented Laura Piland of Slice of Pi Quilts where you will find the complete block pattern and tutorial. Laura is also the designer of Block #3, the endearing “Santa Belt.”

My Tips:

The light string is made with a piece of bias tape. You can use pre-made or make your own. Fabric cut on the bias has much more stretch and pliability to be able to shape your curving light string.

I decided to make mine by cutting the fabric on the bias. It has been a long while since I cut on the bias (back in the day when I sewed clothes) so for a good refresher (or beginner tutorial), I watched this video by Colleen G Lea. I straight stiched around both sides of the string.

I added a few more bulbs than the pattern showed and satin stitched around each with my sparkily thread. I just love how it looks!
