When I got back into sewing and just started my blog in 2016, I made a Halloween mug rug for my partner’s October birthday. He loves all things Halloween. 👻 It was “Vlad” a design from Sandy and Cindy of Gray Barn Designs.
Last year I made him an appliquéd one that I designed myself that I titled ““House on the Hill.” (We had just moved to a house on Hill Street!)
So in keeping with tradition, this year’s Halloween b-day gift is a Sugar Skull mug rug based on a pattern from we all sew.
With my sewing machine, I used some free style stitching for the edge and teeth and pre-programmed embroidery stitches on the skull appliqué.
Now it’s time to gear up for Christmas sewing projects. I received some hints from family members that they are all stocked up on mug rugs. What??! Like I always say “You can never have enough mug rugs!!!” 😋
