“QAL By the Sea” Block 4 Release!

Hello! Welcome to the release of Block 4 of the QAL by the Sea! Sun Block is a 12″ x 12″ finished block designed by Sherry Shish of Powered by Quilting. Please visit her blog to download the pattern and read the tutorial.

Sun Block by Sherry Shish

Sherry’s block is a combination of foundation paper and traditional piecing. The sun rays are paper pieced, leaving you with wonderful exact points. Even if you are a beginner paper piecer, you will find everything you need to know to succeed in Sherry’s post.

It was so fun making this smiling sun! Who doesn’t feel better when the sun shines on their face? Especially on the beach! (the real one or the you can picture in you mind :)

For this quilt I am using HITS the SPOT and seeing stars Grunge fabric from Moda and coordinating Kona solids that I have in my stash.

To see this block in a variety of different colors and fabrics as well as get tips for construction, please visit the other QAL hosts:
