Welcome to the release of Block 4 of the Destination: Quilt Along. “Turtle Beach Block” is a pattern written and designed by Jennifer Fulton. You can download the pattern for free during the duration of the QAL by visiting her blog The Inquiring Quilter.

Jennifer’s block has a simple two pieced background that is cut and sewn on the diagonal creating the shore and sea line, where you will find two precious sea turtles making their way to the ocean. The turtles are appliqued.
Tips:
With any applique block, I always check to see if my background fabrics show through the applique pieces. A darker or print background may show through lighter colored appliqued pieces. You can always add a piece of light fusible interfacing to the lighter pieces before adhering the applique fusible.
Be sure to label all of your individual applique pieces on the paper side of the fusible, this takes any guess work out of the assembly.
Embroider the edges as desired to secure them; with raw-edge, zigzag or satin stitch to name a few.
Have fun!
