Hello! It’s month two of the Barn Quilt BOM from Sherry Shish of Powered by Quilting.
This month’s was really satisfying for me because now I have four big blocks that feel like a quilt in progress! This month we make Half Square Triangles for Hourglass blocks and then No Waste Flying Geese, to assemble with last month’s blocks. Sherry’s pattern includes sewing directions for all of these basic quilt units.
I took these photos outside and wanted to show my still blooming rose bush too!
Chain piecing is your friend for these blocks! Chain piecing is a technique to sew your same set pieces continuously in an assembly fashion with out having to stop, lift the needle, cut the thread and them start again with a new set. It really is a time saver.
The Barn Quilt BOM pattern is written and designed by Sherry and is available for purchase for $20.00 by clicking below:
What I love about this pattern is it guides you step by step, no guess work at all. It is easy to follow written and illustrated directions.
Sherry’s pattern is a confident beginner level and with help through the entire process! Sherry will have a newsletter, blog post, and live video on the Powered by Quilting Quilters Facebook Group each month.
Additionally, these hosts will have a blog post too on the first Wednesday of each month. Please visit them to see their completed work and get inspiration for working on yours.

Hi Abbie! Oooh-la-la! I just LOVE your fabrics. So soft and pretty. I just saw Kathleen’s version and I am surprised that this is the same pattern. It always amazes me how different that can make the same design look. ~smile~ Roseanne

Thanks Roseanne! I know, fabric colors can make the same pattern seem completely different. When I look for patterns to make, I try to remember that but you don’t really know until you see it!
